TODA America, Inc. is an exciting joint venture between two esteemed companies: TODA KOGYO Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of solid state chemistry particles for over 185 years, and ITOCHU Corporation a $120 billion transaction global diversified trading company.
Located in Battle Creek, Michigan, on an 18 acre brownfield site, the new $70+ million Li-ion Cathode Materials plant began construction on April 1, 2010 and completed Phase 1 (of 2) in February 2011.
Awarded one of a limited number of licenses for production of DOE Argonne National Laboratory’s next generation cathode materials, at full production (December 2015) the site will produce approximately 4000 tons per year of the highest quality cathode materials. The Lithium-ion products to be produced will include LiNiCoAlO2 and LiNiCoMnO2.
Cathode materials are the key chemical componnts of Li-ion Batteries. Applications for these batteries include use in power tools, computers, wind power projects, proposed smart grid concepts, and most visible now – the electric car battery. TODA America is committed to continuing the leading edge presence as a strategic supplier for battery customers worldwide.
